Mortgage

We started checking to see what Cambrian could do for us to help with moving the mortgage to Comox -- unfortunately they couldn't do much.  So, I talked to CIBC and now have started to move the mortgage to them.

Progress....

Life is going on.  Not too much has changed from the last post.  The garage is mostly done, and now I'm starting to work on our room.  Clothes were picked up and put away.  Now to work on the area around the dresser, so it can be moved.

Thursday my new ID badge arrived.  It seems a bit strange that a) it would arrive before I have signed a job offer, and b) that I wouldn't have to sign my life away to get it.  I guess I'm just too used to the DND bureaucracy.

Joanna (the SSC manager I've been talking to) says that HR is working on generating a position number, and then it will be mailed out.  Hopefully soon.  If they want me to start the beginning of Jan, it needs to arrive Monday or Tuesday.

Last night I was able to transfer the old videos off of the camcorder.  There are some cute ones from when Emma was 2 and Becca just born.  Now to convert them to something that will play easily on modern devices.....

One Week Down

So, this past week has had a lot of progress in the house, and the main floor has almost had its first pass of decluttering done.  But, I'm still not done with the garage, and need to focus on that today.  Its not as bad as it looks, and I should be able to get it done (or mostly done) with a bit of effort.  There's one shelving unit to go through, a few boxes and bins, and then rearranging things to separate the 'keep' and 'get rid of' areas, and to give a spot to put the boxes of stuff once they are packed.

But, now for some coffee, then time to get the day started....

Incompetence or an Evil Plan

So, yesterday at work, SSC called my management to discuss a transition plan.  I guess that's a good sign that the jbo offer should be on its way.  But, they called not me, not my supervisor, but his bosses, bosses, boss.

And they did it before they've given me an offer of employment.

So, are their sections not communicating with each other to let them know where things are at in the process, or were they passive aggressively trying to force me to feel I would need to accept the offer when it arrives as my management is already making plans for me to leave....

My response to Ted when he talked to me was to tell him I have not yet received an offer, so obviously I can't have accepted one yet.  And that I would have talked to him about it if I had received one.  Work was generally supportive of the situation, and it will be interesting to see what the fall-out from this will be next week.

Things are getting real....

Despite my attempts to keep perspective on the new job possibilities, it is looking more an more likely that it will in fact proceed.  Yesterday I had a conversation with the recruiter who stated that the job offer should be in the mail, and that they are hoping for a January start date....

Now, I will believe that when I see it - no notice of consideration has been posted yet, and I haven't received the offer....

But, they contacted me to get a photo for my ID card...  I have to say I'm surprised that's happening *before* I've accepted the job....

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

So, we got the tree yesterday -- a 8 foot Fraser Pine.  It's a biggie... It was great that we had a warm snap, so it was close to 0 when we picked it up instead of -20ish!  So, today I'll need to pull the rest of the Christmas stuff out of the garage so we can get it decorated.  The kids are looking forward to it.

New Beginnings

The beginning of December.  A time to look over the old and prepare for the new.

Well, for us, the New is going to be an adventure.  It looks like I'm going to be offered a job on Vancouver Island, and we're going to be preparing to move.  Its exciting, but there's going to be a lot of work to do here to prepare to move.  We've been working on decluttering the house, and have been making great progress.  Right now my target is the garage (although I keep getting sidetracked to help with other areas).  I'll be trying to keep this blog up to date with our progess and challenges as we prepare.

Today we'll also be getting our Christmas tree and start getting the house ready for Christmas.\\
